I have always had a passion for jewellery and started by making pieces using beads. After taking a foundation course in Art & Design, I went on to take a degree course in Jewellery & Metalwork at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and graduated in 1999. I worked for several jewellery companies since graduating, including the Signet Group, but in 2009 I decided to start Mila Jewellery and work on my own designs.
I live on the Norfolk / Suffolk border and I take a lot of my inspiration from nature and my surroundings. I am lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country and have access to such wonderful scenery and beaches as inspiration.
All my jewellery is handmade in my own workshop. I enjoy using a range of materials to create my pieces. Some of my pieces are experimental and these are sold as one off pieces mainly at shows and craft fairs, and sometimes in the galleries that exhibit my work. I recently met with BBC Dragons Den star Theo Paphitis after winning his #SBS Small Business Sunday Competition on Twitter.
I am registered with the London Assay Office and so all my pieces are hallmarked where appropriate and stamped with my makers mark.
